Hamilton County, Indiana, is looking to hire an executive director of emergency management.

Job responsibilities include administering, maintaining and developing procedures for use before, during and after disasters occurring within the county.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in emergency management, criminal justice, public administration or a related field. At least three years of public safety or emergency management experience is required, or a combination of education, training and experience. Applicants also should have the ability to complete training and certification in several areas, including FEMA/IDHS training, hazardous materials, amateur radio and storm-spotter certification.

A thorough knowledge of local, state and federal emergency management regulations is required, along with all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations related to the job. Applicants should also be familiar with how the Hamilton County government operates and functions.

Hamilton is located near the middle of the State of Indiana, about 30 miles north of the state capital of Indianapolis. The county has a population of about 274,000 people. The county seat is located in Noblesville, Indiana. It was named after the first secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton.
