The American Red Cross said it is seeking a regional disaster program officer for the New Hampshire-Vermont region.
The regional disaster program officer will be responsible for the implementation of disaster relief and response programs in New Hampshire and Vermont. The position will either be located in Concord, New Hampshire, or Burlington, Vermont.
This position will make sure that all employees and volunteers acting on behalf of the Red Cross are assigned to a specific management relation with emergency management staff, nongovernmental organizations and corporate emergency services. The officer makes sure that responsibilities associated with the specified group or agency are carried out. This position serves during times of disaster in an operational leadership role and may serve a smaller role of leadership in disaster response on divisional or national scales.
Qualifications for this position include a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in emergency management, public administration and organizational development or related is preferred. Candidates should show evidence of leadership roles in an organization. Knowledge of management of volunteers, finances, emergency, community and government programs and procedures would be preferred. There is a minimum requirement of one year of managing staff experience. Applicants should also provide evidence of successful collaboration, problem solving, public speaking, data analysis and technical writing abilities. The selected candidate must have a valid driver's license.
