FEMA aims to hire supervisory program manager for D.C. office

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking to hire a supervisory program manager for its Washington, D.C., office.

The two-year temporary position is in the Acquisition Department in the Office of the Chief Procurement Officer for FEMA. The selected candidate will be required to build and maintain a large and well-trained work force to attend to the needs of disaster survivors and the communities affected.

Additional responsibilities include developing the qualifications, certification, training and equipment needs for each member of the team. The successful candidate also will develop, recommend, and interpret administrative and operational policies and procedures within the department.

Applicants should have one year of specialized experience in implementing emergency management policy, guidance and doctrine. Other experience needed includes supervising employees, analyzing data from different types of sources and writing up reports using long-range planning. Applicants also should have past experience in budget estimating and short- and long-term personnel needs.

The salary ranges from $89,924 to $116,901 per year, depending on experience and other factors. The application period opened Friday and runs through Dec. 15, or whenever 200 applications are received, whichever comes first. Applicants should be  U.S. citizens and must pass background checks. Male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service if they were born after Dec. 31, 1959.
