HICPAC meetings to be held Dec. 4-5

The Healthcare Information Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC)  at The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will meet on Dec. 4 and 5 to update its practices and guidelines.

A large portion of the meetings will cover updates on CDC activities regarding health care associated infections, updates on antimicrobial resistance, an update to draft guidelines, and updates on health care preparedness and emerging infections.

The HICPAC is made up of 14 infection control experts who provide guidance and advice in areas relating to infection control, including items such as surveillance and control strategy for infections associated with health care. Members are often selected from the fields of infectious disease, health care epidemiology, and health care associated infections.

The CDC recommends candidates, and the secretary of Health and Human Services appoints them to the committee.

There are also non-voting members on the committee who include former HICPAC members, and representatives from other agencies and liaison representatives from professional societies.

The meetings will take place in The Silverbell Pavilion at the Emory Conference Center, 1615 Clifton Road, Atlanta.

Like all HICPAC meetings, they are open to the public. However, registration is required.
