Federal Emergency Management Agency Chief of Staff, Michael Coen, Jr., recently named Elizabeth Zimmerman as the acting associate administrator and Robert Fenton as the deputy associate administrator of the Office of Response and Recovery (ORR).
A vacancy appeared when Joe Nimmich was confirmed by the Senate to the position of FEMA deputy administrator.
Zimmerman joined FEMA in 2009 as the principle adviser to the ORR. She previously served as the assistant director of recovery in Arizona, where she acted as the governor's authorized representative in many state-wide and national disaster operations.
Fenton previously served FEMA Region IX as the director of disaster assistance and as acting director of disaster operations.
ORR coordinates and integrates the agency's response, recovery and logistics programs in the event of a disaster. Zimmerman brings years of emergency management and response experience at the state level, having managed many programs in Utah including disaster recovery, administration and recovery, chemical stockpile emergency preparedness and emergency preparedness planning during the Salt Lake City flood in 1984.
