UCSD seeks emergency preparedness coordinator

University of California, San Diego is seeking an emergency preparedness coordinator.

According to the university, the emergency preparedness coordinator will be responsible for emergency preparedness program planning, disaster equipment inventory, maintaining annual assessment of decontamination equipment needs for Medical Center and developing a curriculum that will augment decision making in emergency situations that occur in clinical environments.

They will also represent the health systems director EP&R at meetings, attending disaster prep committee meetings, writing and distributing topic specific emergency preparedness training publications, and managing databases and files to facilitate grant funding.

Prospective candidates must posses a college degree with a major related to health care, public health, public law, safety or closely related subjects inclusive of fire science, law enforcement or military; have four years of demonstrated analysis experience in the coordination of emergency preparedness functions and/or programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Incident Command System training; background in direct patient care in a hospital, clinic or EMS; knowledge of health care disaster preparedness and National Incident Management System; strong teaching, computer, written and verbal communication skills; a valid California driver's license; experience with supply, inventory and equipment management; and experience with adult learning theory/adult education.

Those interested must be committed to working various hours and locations based on business needs. 

Some preferred qualifications include technical experience with Homeland Security exercise and evaluation program and liaison experience.
